Medina lied about hearing a scream in Summer's office. She said she heard the scream because the windows were open in Summer's office, which was a lie. (1 point)
We know Medina lied because:
- Officers interviewed other witnesses who said they didn't hear anything (it's in the Officer Notes notebook). (1 point if you noticed the inconsistencies between these witnesses and Medina's witness statement)
- The security camera evidence photograph shows that the windows in Summer's office were closed, not open, when Medina found Summer and called 911 at 10:25AM. (1 point if you figured out that Medina was in Summer's office at 10:25AM and noticed that the windows were closed at that time).
- The Crime Scene report says the windows were open in Summer's office when officers arrived. We can assume Medina opened the windows after finding Summer (sometime after 10:25AM) to fit her story. (1 point if you noticed that the windows were open when officers arrived and inferred that Medina opened them).
Medina lied about hearing Summer scream/the windows being open, because she needed to explain why she was in Summer's office. Medina didn't want to tell police she was having an affair with Summer, so she came up with a story to explain her presence in Summer's office. (1 point)

Medina's motive would have been to prevent Summer from revealing their affair. (3 points)
The Ghost Lock messages show Summer wanted to come clean about their affair, but Medina didn't. Medina might have been afraid Summer would reveal their secret. In her witness statement, Medina says she knows how law enforcement "dig(s) into people's lives and make(s) public spectacles out of them". Medina did not want this to happen to her.
